Perched on the riverbank, the Anchor has been serving the Dedham Vale for over 500 years

A traditional country pub with a warm welcome, The Anchor Inn offers a fine selection of cask ales and fresh, home cooked food. 

Set in the beautiful village of Nayland, open fires and a cosy atmosphere make the Anchor a wonderful winter bolthole, and the banks of the River Stour provide glorious al fresco dining throughout the summer months.

It wouldn't be a village pub without a great selection of real ale on the pumps..  The Anchor always has top quality ales on the pumps from local and national brewers and with our Cask Marque Award of Excellence it is guaranteed to be a great pint.

Alongside the ales, craft and European lagers, local cider and an extensive wine list to enjoy in both the bar and restaurant.

Christmas & New Year

With cosy open fires and beautiful decorations, from office parties to a relaxing family Christmas, the Anchor Inn will make your festive celebrations extra special.

Christmas PARTY Fayre

The Anchor is the perfect festive location for Christmas parties and gatherings with family and friends. 

Served throughout December, our traditional four course Christmas Menu starts from just £20.95 per person.  A £10 deposit per person is required at the time of booking.

Sunday Lunch with Santa
Every Sunday throughout December, Santa will be flying in for a visit.  Bring the whole family along to meet Santa and enjoy a delicious Sunday lunch with a gift for all children dining.

Christmas Day

The stockings have been opened, presents exchanged and an indulgent five course lunch awaits.  Sit back, relax and enjoy Christmas Day at The Anchor Inn.

THE ANCHOR SMOKEHOUSE

 

Tucked away beside the river, our chefs create the most tender and flavoursome home smoked PRODUCE.

The Anchor Chefs regularly stock the smokehouse with a range of locally sourced meats, fish and cheese.  Curing to smoking can take weeks, but it is worth the wait. 

Our traditional cold smokehouse is 100% natural and the chefs carefully cure and brine, adding herbs to the wood chips to develop smoky flavour depths. 

Try smoked specials including our signature smoked platter, low and slow delicacies, and the best smoky BBQ ribs in the valley.
