The Anchor Inn is a traditional country inn and restaurant nestled in the Stour Valley, in the picturesque village of Nayland. Perched on the banks of the River Stour, The Anchor enjoys stunning views across the river and the beautiful countryside that is fondly known as ‘Constable Country’ thanks to the work of painter, John Constable.
On the menu you’ll find traditional British cuisine, with a twist, cooked fresh to order. Ingredients are sourced locally where possible and our menus are changed seasonally to respect what is at its freshest and best.
Behind the bar is an impressive selection of quality local and regional cask ales, international beers, wines from around the globe and a range of soft drinks, including freshly brewed tea and coffee from Cafe du Monde and Newby of London Teas.
Whether you’re joining us for an evening drink with friends, meeting business associates for lunch or joining us for an intimate evening meal, The Anchor Inn will be a place where you can relax and enjoy good food and drink.
With rumours of a heat wave on the horizon we are delighted to announce that our new riverside terrace is ready and waiting for the sunshine to arrive. Our riverside terrace has fantastic views of the Stour Valley and is the perfect spot to while away an afternoon.
Join us for a relaxing afternoon drink, a long-lazy lunch or soak up the last of the evening sunshine with an early supper before enjoying a nightcap in our cosy bar.
We’re putting traditional hearty pub food back on the agenda with a new menu. Not only are our menus changing, the way we present them is also having a bit of a refresh and our new pub classics menu will be chosen from blackboards.
Our new dishes include a great selection of starters and mains, which we think create a great British pub menu that offers diners good value traditional pub food in an idyllic riverside setting.
