The Anchor, Nayland
Enjoying an idyllic riverside setting, where in the early 1900’s The Anchor Inn played host to ‘tub and shovel races’, with competitors teetering on half barrels racing across the river using a shovel as an oar. Today the River Stour is a more tranquil place where visitors to The Anchor Inn can simply relax for a riverside dinner or an early evening drink.
After being acquired by Exclusive Inns in February 2012, The Anchor Inn has been given a fresh new-look. Keeping a focus on its original features, The Anchor has been transformed into a stylish country inn that offers a unique setting for an early evening drink or a delicious home cooked meal.
Dine at The Anchor Inn and enjoy traditional British cuisine with a twist from head chef Ross Armstead. You can choose to dine in our relaxed bar area, or book a table in our first floor dining room for a more formal experience. You may also enjoy dinner in the ‘River Room’, which benefits from uninterrupted views across the River Stour.
